Job Title: Day Shift Entry-Level Chemist

Job Description

This entry-level Chemist position offers the opportunity to work in a brand-new, climate-controlled chemical manufacturing facility on a day shift schedule. You will support product quality and regulatory compliance by performing analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, IC, and ICP, while following established procedures and safety standards. This role is ideal for recent graduates who want hands-on experience with modern analytical laboratory equipment and the potential to grow into advanced and leadership positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned daily analytical tests under the direction of staff or management, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Conduct analyses using chromatography techniques, including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), ion chromatography (IC), and inductively coupled plasma (ICP).
  • Apply wet chemistry methods, titrations, and other analytical chemistry techniques as required for quality control testing.
  • Follow established standard operating procedures meticulously for all testing and documentation activities.
  • Identify analytical or equipment-related problems promptly and communicate issues to staff or management.
  • Coordinate and execute materials shelf life and compatibility testing to support product quality and stability.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy, and completeness in all records and reports.
  • Adhere rigorously to company, industry, and OSHA safety protocols, as well as applicable quality and GMP regulations.
  • Embrace and follow all safety and environmental policies and procedures in the laboratory and manufacturing areas.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment used for analytical testing.
  • Perform routine instrument calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of chemicals, reagents, and laboratory equipment.
  • Keep the laboratory environment orderly, clean, and well-organized to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, both verbally and in writing, to share results, issues, and recommendations.
  • Supervise and support apprentices and trainees as needed, providing guidance on laboratory practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to help optimize process equipment efficiency and product quality.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of analytical chemistry principles.
  • Basic laboratory skills in analytical chemistry and wet chemistry techniques.
  • Familiarity with chromatography methods such as HPLC and GC.
  • Familiarity with ion chromatography (IC) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analytical methods.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using software tools such as Excel and ChemStation or similar platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing samples, data, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations and quality control practices in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration, documentation, and reporting.
  • Commitment to following safety, environmental, and quality procedures at all times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply and will receive training on advanced analytical instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, GC, IC, ICP, GCMS, FTIR, or other analytical laboratory equipment is a plus.
  • Experience in quality control or QC testing in a chemical or manufacturing environment is beneficial.
  • Exposure to gas chromatography, titration techniques, and chromatography data systems is advantageous.
  • Interest in professional growth with the potential to train into advanced technical roles and future leadership opportunities.

Work Environment

You will work in a new manufacturing environment featuring a brand-new facility and a brand-new analytical laboratory equipped with modern analytical instruments. The lab and production areas are climate controlled to support both comfort and consistent testing conditions. This is a day shift (1st shift) role, Monday through Friday, with overtime available and sometimes required based on production and testing demands. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a strong focus on using advanced analytical laboratory equipment and supporting continuous improvement in processes and quality.

This is a Contract position based out of Kokomo, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
