Technical Customer Support Specialist Schaumburg, IL | Hybrid | Confidential – International Pharmaceutical Ingredients Manufacturer

About the Role

This is NOT in the Information Technology field. Do not apply if you have this background.

A well-established international manufacturer of specialty pharmaceutical ingredients is looking to add a Technical Customer Support Specialist to their U.S. team. This is a hands-on customer-facing role that sits at the intersection of science and commerce — and it comes with a genuine path into sales and account management for someone who earns it.

The position reports directly to the U.S. General Manager.

What Needs to Get Done

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers — handling inquiries, requests, and follow-through across phone, email, and chat
  • Support the U.S. sales organization by ensuring customers are well-served and that nothing falls through the cracks between the sales process and order fulfillment
  • Coordinate internally to make sure customer needs are addressed completely and on time
  • Work closely with colleagues overseas — the company's technical, quality, and logistics teams are internationally based, so clear and professional cross-cultural communication is part of the job
  • Keep records accurate and transactions well-documented across internal systems

Who Fits This Role

  • Someone with 3–4 years in customer support, service coordination, QC, QA, lab, or inside sales
  • Current or recent QC or QA experience is a strong fit — the habits that make someone good in quality translate directly here
  • A lab or analytical background paired with any customer-facing experience is equally attractive
  • A science degree or coursework helps — chemistry, biology, life sciences — but the right attitude and aptitude matter more than the diploma
  • Someone who can talk to a scientist and a purchasing manager in the same afternoon without missing a beat
  • Organized, dependable, and doesn't need to be followed up with twice
  • Pharma, specialty chemicals, or ingredients experience is a plus — but the company is willing to invest in the right person

The Opportunity

The honest reality is that most technical and quality professionals who want to move into a commercial role never find a clean way in. Sales teams hire people with sales experience, and the door stays closed.

This role is a legitimate exception. The company wants someone with a technical foundation who can grow into a customer-facing commercial role — and they've structured this position to make that happen. Day one credibility comes from knowing the science. Long-term growth comes from building the relationships and commercial instincts that define a sales career.

Direct access to senior U.S. leadership. A hybrid schedule in the Schaumburg area. A stable, internationally recognized company with decades in the pharmaceutical ingredients space.

For the right person, this is the opportunity they've been waiting for but didn't know existed.
