Overview
We are seeking an experienced chemist to support the optimization of existing chemical routes and the development of alternative synthetic pathways for key intermediates and APIs. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, process scale-up, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute multistep organic syntheses, including product isolation and purification
- Optimize existing synthetic routes and develop alternative pathways for intermediates and APIs
- Scale up chemical processes from milligram to kilogram quantities and implement process improvements
- Utilize modern analytical and spectroscopic techniques to confirm product identity and purity
- Conduct literature searches to inform synthetic design and stay current with scientific advancements
- Prepare and review detailed technical reports for internal stakeholders and clients
- Collaborate with analytical, manufacturing, and GMP teams to support project execution
- Participate in client-facing meetings and effectively communicate project updates
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, chemical hygiene practices, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to environmental and safety standards
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry (or related field) with 6+ years of experience, OR
- M.S. with 10+ years, OR
- B.S. with 14+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/lab experience
- Strong expertise in organic synthesis and process development
- Proficiency in analytical and spectroscopic techniques (e.g., NMR, HPLC, GC, MS)
- Demonstrated experience scaling up pharmaceutical processes
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client interaction
- Experience working in a GMP or regulated environment preferred
