Job Title: Dyno Technician

Job Description

This role oversees chassis dynamometer operations in a clean automotive test lab environment. The Dyno Technician drives vehicles on the chassis dyno, sets up and operates test equipment, and supports emissions testing, data collection, and basic troubleshooting. The position offers long-term, stable work with the opportunity to build experience within a major automotive testing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate chassis dynamometers safely and consistently for emissions and performance testing.
  • Drive 4–5 vehicles per shift on the chassis dyno according to defined test procedures.
  • Set up each vehicle on the chassis dyno, including properly attaching exhaust collection equipment for emissions measurement.
  • Perform basic test system checks and ensure all dyno equipment is ready and configured for testing.
  • Support instrumentation setup and calibration activities as needed to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Monitor tests in real time, identify irregularities, and assist with troubleshooting test system and vehicle issues.
  • Collect, review, and document test data, supporting data analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Follow all lab safety procedures and operational standards while working in the test facility.
  • Communicate test status, issues, and results clearly with engineers, technicians, and other team members.
  • Maintain organized records of tests performed, vehicle configurations, and equipment usage.
  • Collaborate with the dyno team across multiple shifts to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent operations.
  • Adapt to changing test requirements and priorities while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean, professional lab setting within an automotive test facility. The role centers on chassis dynamometer operations, emissions testing, and related data collection using modern test equipment and instrumentation. The dyno team operates primarily on 2nd and 3rd shifts, with typical hours of approximately 3:00 pm–11:30 pm and 11:00 pm–7:30 am. New team members train on 1st shift (around 7:00 am–3:30 pm) for several weeks before transitioning to their assigned shift. The environment is collaborative and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork, and requires flexibility to support varying test schedules and workload demands.

This is a Contract position based out of Allen Park, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
