Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center is Seeking an experienced Chair of Psychiatry to join the Team

Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey’s largest non-profit healthcare networks, is seeking a board-certified Psychiatrist to serve as Chair of Psychiatry at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey 

This full-time position will oversee a 24-bed adult voluntary inpatient unit that serves individuals 18 and older, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders, and geriatric patients. In addition to inpatient care, responsibilities include oversight and provision of care for our ECT, consult & liaison psychiatry, a full continuum of outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programming for adults and pediatrics, and our crisis intervention service within our emergency department.  Interest or experience in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is preferred.

The Chair will provide leadership to advance Overlook Medical Center’s mission and strategic priorities, including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives, as well as coordinating scheduling for behavioral health clinicians.

Our behavioral health team features highly trained psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and licensed clinicians. They provide a variety of mental health services in the inpatient unit as well as in the community.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Chair of Psychiatry at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center while ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to patients. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the adult inpatient unit, ensuring quality care for individuals experiencing acute mental health conditions.
  • Supervise a team of psychiatrists and advanced practice clinicians, guiding their clinical practice, ensuring appropriate coverage, and fostering professional development.
  • Oversee the recruitment and retention of psychiatrists and advanced practice clinicians.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives ensuring adherence to best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with hospital and service line leadership and medical staff to implement and evaluate new policies, procedures, and treatment modalities in behavioral health.
  • Ensure that the behavioral health services are integrated with other hospital departments to provide holistic care to patients.
