Responsibilities
As a member ofTeam Rehabilitation’s Surgery Center team, you will play a critical role in the patient’s journey toward recovery and independence. Your primary focus will be providing hands-on mobility assistance and essential education to patients and their support systems to ensure a safe transition from surgery center to home.
Key Responsibilities
- Working alongside nursing staff to help patients recover after total joint replacement surgery
- Patient & Caregiver Education:
- Instruct patients and caregivers on prescribed exercises and physician protocols
- Provide guidance along with nursing staff on effective pain management techniques and recovery expectations.
- Train patients on the proper use and maintenance of DME including immobilizers, SCD (Sequential Compression Device) pumps, walkers, and gait belts
- Mobility & Gait Training:
- Provide gait training education to improve the patient’s walking pattern and stability.
- Physically assist and supervise patients as they navigate stairs
- Safe Transitions:
- Demonstrate and assist with safe transfer techniques (e.g., getting out of bed, toileting)
- Provide direct physical assistance during the discharge process, including safely assisting patients into their vehicles.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree
- Valid Certified Occupational Therapist license
