Atlantic Health is Seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife
Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey's largest non-profit healthcare networks, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team at 89 Sparta Ave, Suite 205, Sparta NJ 07871. Our medical team consists of board-certified obstetricians, neonatology specialists, anesthesiology specialists, maternal-fetal specialists and pediatricians are supported by specially trained nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives.
The CNM in the ambulatory practice and inpatient setting functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a physician. The CNM performs patient assessments in both the outpatient and inpatient settings, participates in diagnosis of health status, develops plans of care, and implementation of treatment. Participates in OB hospital call and performs obstetrical and gynecological care/procedures as needed. Documents in the patient medical records, discharge summaries for collaborating and referring physicians. Participates in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives. Participates as required in department meetings and special projects, including additional activities as outlined in the APN/Physician agreement.
Inpatient Setting (Labor & Delivery unit)
• Attends the patient throughout the course of labor, monitors the fetus condition, administers medications, notifies physician of prolonged labor or complications indicating need for possible surgical intervention
• Evaluating progression of labor
• Collaborating with other clinicians on L&D with emergencies; assisting with C-sections, placing Fetal Scalp Electrode (FSE), Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC)
• Evaluating Pre -Term Labor (PTL); Rupture of Membrane (ROM); any Emergency evaluations for pregnant women over 28w
• Post-Partum care: providing hospital based post-partum care; triaging; evaluating any Post-Partum (PP) emergencies such as Post - Partum Hemorrhage (PPH); Post-Partum Hypertension (PP-HTN)
• Ability to take hospital call for OB deliveries and round on patients in the hospital as necessary
• Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate office/hospital need, including evenings if appropriate
• Ability to travel to additional offices
• Participates in practice on call duties as required by department
• Participates in hospital weekend/holiday coverage as required by department
Ambulatory Office based care:
• Performing routine gynecological care, testing for and diagnosing various medical conditions.
• Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing treatments. Implements pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for patients within the framework of state licensure and hospital privileges
• Antepartum maternal care: amenorrhea visit, initial and routine prenatal visits and education.
• Preparing birthing individuals & families for labor and delivery and assisting with the birthing process
• Assisting mothers and families through attempts to conceive, pregnancy, and post-pregnancy care.
• Counseling and educating male and female patients on contraceptives, reproductive health, and family planning.
• Complete Postpartum care including lactation support.
