Job Description:

  • We have an excellent opportunity for a Cement Quarry Superintendent to join our Roanoke Cement team.
  • This exempt position will report to the plant Manager and will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the site.
  • Core responsibilities include ensuring that the quarry runs efficiently and safely while meeting production targets.
  • This position will also be responsible for managing a team of employees and ensuring that they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state safety regulations and policies.
  • Oversee all aspects of the quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling of materials.
  • Develop and implement plans to increase efficiency and productivity while reducing costs.
  • Manage inventory and ensure adequate supplies of raw materials to meet production demands.
  • Monitor and control production schedules and ensure the timely delivery of materials to the cement plant.
  • Supervise and train quarry employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the quarry operations run smoothly.
  • Manage quarry equipment and ensure that it is properly maintained and repaired as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience in the mining industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience of supervisory experience.
  • Currently hold a Virginia DMME Surface Foreman Certification or be qualified to apply for certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office (excel, word, power point)
  • Familiar with MSHA regulations to ensure mining operations are safe and compliant with applicable laws.
  • Knowledge of cement or aggregates manufacturing a plus.
  • Expertise in heavy mobile equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to foster a sense of collaboration and work effectively to achieve goals.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement plans to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
