UM Campus Dininginvites applications for two (2) Catering Service Supervisorto oversee operational supervision of catering events. You will be responsible for all front-of-the-house student personnel functions. This position reports directly to the Events Manager and assists with fiscal and personnel management of Catering. In the absence of the Assistant Director and Events Manager you will assume the role of Manager.
- Handle student personnel functions, including hiring, scheduling, training and development, shift supervision, evaluation, and performance management
- Work collaboratively with the Catering Executive Sous Chef in hiring and scheduling for the student culinary staff
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by ensuring that all sanitation, food handling and safety regulations are followed at all times
- Assist with effective labor management, ordering of supplies, inventories of supplies and maintenance of equipment
- Perform set up, service, and opening and closing tasks related to the Catering operation
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with clients at events and act as a liaison during the events
- Direct and supervise up to 75 student service employees and assists the Executive Sous Chef with recruitment and supervision of back-of-the-house student employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, three (3) or more years of catering and/or restaurant related food service experience, and one (1) or more years in a high-volume food service operation
- Supervisory experience in a food service environment
- Experience training employees new to a work force
- Good communication and guest service skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with addressing personnel issues and conflict resolution
- Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment
- Familiar with food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to become ServSafe certified within one year of employment
- Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member
Preferred Qualifications- Two (2) or more years of supervision in a catering operation
- College and University Food Service experience
- Previous ServSafe certification
- A valid Montana driver’s license or ability to obtain one at the time of employment

Probationary Period:Six (6) months minimum
