Carpenter/Painter II

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Mechanical Services, and the Manager, Maintenance Services for the Department of Facilities Services (DFS), and in collaboration with your colleagues, perform all duties related to the maintenance operation for facilities equipment throughout campus facilities on assigned days of the week.

Duties

  • Administrative & Office Operations Support:
    • Manage departmental mail, preliminary notices, and document scanning/filing.
    • Maintain physical and digital filing systems, including archive retrieval and research.
    • Monitor and respond to shared department inboxes; route inquiries appropriately.
  • Administrative Team and Student Worker Supervision:
    • Supervise the administrative team.
    • Manage student workers, including recruitment, onboarding, and workload assignment.
  • Project & Contract Administration Support:
    • Prepare and maintain project documentation (RFPs, scopes of work, etc.).
  • Systems & Software Administration:
    • Support Kahua administration (user setup, vendor onboarding, troubleshooting, project creation).
  • Onboarding & Personnel Support:
    • Develop onboarding checklists and coordinate new hire setup and training.
  • Calendar & Meeting Coordination:
    • Schedule and coordinate meetings for department leadership and staff.
  • Fleet & Facilities Coordination:
    • Manage company vehicle maintenance, fueling, inspections, and servicing.
  • Reporting & Strategic Support:
    • Assist with research and information gathering at the request of departmental leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Proof of legal U.S. working status.
  • Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
  • Four years of applicable experience in facilities maintenance and/or commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in two or more trades, such as masonry, concrete/asphalt, painting, carpentry, plaster/drywall, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to successfully resolve issues.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must consistently project a professional demeanor and positive attitude, and be able to effectively and professionally communicate with University administrators and project clients.
  • Willingness and ability to periodically work overtime hours, respond to emergency calls after hours/weekends, and work rotating weekend shifts providing general maintenance duties for the campus is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management software such as TMA.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour

Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
