DEFINITION:
Coordinate the Human Resources Development (HRD) program classes and Integrated Ed. & Training (IET) career pathways, and provide advising to Academic & Career Readiness department (ACR) students for transitioning to postsecondary education, training, and employment.
Develop, promote, deliver, and coordinate employability skills and basic job training skills classes and IET pathways to students in ACR, unemployed or underemployed public, and to businesses and industries in New Hanover and Pender counties. Provide current and potential students with information regarding secondary and postsecondary education, career pathways, and local and regional employability opportunities. Assist students with the CFCC and financial aid application processes. Participate in recruitment and promotion activities for Economic & Workforce Development and Academic & Career Readiness.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Director, Adult High School & Career Pathways
- Supervises HRD instructors
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Recruit, interview, evaluate, and hire instructors; develop and draft instructor contracts; create class schedules which includes scheduling of rooms.
- Provide and supervise academic and transitions advising for ACR students.
- Meet with community based organizations, corporate, and industry leaders to identify continuing education needs, develop programs, and design courses to meet specified needs.
- Participate in the development of advertising for ACR programs; prepare brochures and advertising materials; schedule facilities and equipment as needed for classes and meetings.
- Collect and submit registration forms, fees, class rosters, pay and attendance sheets and other documentation as required; prepare reports regarding data collected.
- Create non-instructional contracts for instructors and staff for duties outside of the classroom.
- Create and/or review all instructional and non-instructional pay sheets.
- Collect and review all forms for end of class packets.
- Follow up with clients and students in terms of customer satisfaction and additional training needs.
- Follow through and carry out required rules and regulations as set by CFCC, the North Carolina Community College Systems office, the Department of Labor and the Department of Commerce.
- Visit classes on and off campus and program orientations to share information regarding
admissions, program offerings, financial aid, major selection and other aspects of the
transition process.
- Provide ongoing advising to ACR students and assistance with resume writing and other employability skills in the ACR Resume Lab.
- Assist students with class registration in CFCC Curriculum and Continuing Education/EWD classes.
- Work closely with Admissions staff, Testing Services, and Financial Aid
advisors to make sure students complete, meet and exceed all admissions and placement
requirements.
- Maintain transition advising records and document student outcomes.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from students, faculty, staff and local and state
agencies; provide detailed information and give directions.
- Maintain sound knowledge of the college’s financial aid process, degree auditing and
placement testing procedures and deadlines.
- Generate ideas for and participate in recruitment and publicity activities.
- Collaborate with other department staff to increase student retention and transition.
- Schedule assemblies, workshops and information sessions; recruit guest speakers and
collaborate with other intercollegiate departments to provide information regarding
academic programs, job training and job skills.
- Assist program coordinators to train the instructional staff on transition opportunities, and
incorporating job training and soft skills in the classroom.
- Maintain information regarding local and regional hiring events.
Other Important Functions:
- Assist faculty, administrative staff, and students with various support tasks including accessing computerized information.
- Assist with student registration processes, in person, on FundFive, and on Web Advisor.
- Maintain current knowledge of Curriculum and Continuing Education processes and procedures as well as general college policies and procedures.
- Maintain department’s program information, handouts, schedules, and catalog.
- Maintain department’s webpage and social networking sites.
- Collaborate with Coordinators to publicize student and staff recognitions and accomplishments.
- Participate on various college committees and other institutional activities.
- Collaborate with community agencies to establish and foster a student support network.
- Plan and participate in professional development activities on and off campus.
- Provide direct support to the Senior Director of Academic & Career Readiness.
- Assist other program coordinators as needed.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

- The College admissions process, student registration, completion of the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and placement procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required; coursework in education or counseling-related field preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- Experience in teaching, counseling and/or advising at a secondary or postsecondary level or administrative experience in a student-centered office.

- Adult Education administration experience
- Teaching experience that includes curriculum development and online learning
