The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for providing ultrasound diagnostic tests for patients.
Job Relationships
• Reports to the Operations Manager
Principal Responsibilities
• Perform echocardiograms as directed by physicians.
• Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
• Position patients. Select appropriate transducer.
• Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment. Move scanner over specified area and adjust equipment to focus.
• Make hard copy of images. Document tests.
• Develop reports and assemble materials for cardiologists.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment. Order and stock all ultrasound supplies.
• Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
• Completion of course in ultrasonic technology.
Licenses/Certificates
• CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
• Must be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International and/or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographers.
• Credentialed with echocardiography certification.
Working Environment
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able to assist patients to and from ultrasound table. Standing and walking.
