Under the general supervision of the training academy major, plans Implements, monitors, and evaluates training programs for agency personnel, both uniform & non-uniform, with emphasis on programs for uniform staff who supervise inmates of all custody levels.
Directs and supervises academy lieutenants.
Coordinates training programs and resources for SCDC divisions and institutions, as well as other agencies/organizations.
Identifies training needs and monitors compliance with training policies and programs.
Provides professional guidance & assistance to instructors and curriculum.
Must successfully complete the physical agility assessment and be able to lift 40lbs.
Must successfully complete the following training for trainers’ courses basic instructor, firearms, defensive driving, American safety and health institute first aid/CPR&AED, respiratory fit, less lethal munitions advanced interpersonal verbal & written skills.
Knowledge & understanding advanced interpersonal verbal & written skills. Knowledge & understanding of training needs, assessment principles, processes & techniques.
Knowledge of relevant curriculum requirements and educational standards knowledge of relevant teaching training systems & techniques.
Incumbents must maintain certification and performance standards for all T4Ts and ensure subordinates also maintain certifications.
Resume preferred but not required.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
