This position is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and supervising operations of a campus library to serve the needs of faculty, students and community.

* Coordinate all activities within the campus library, including scheduling the use of the library by classes, administering rules and procedures for the circulation of library materials

* Plan and supervise a readily accessible collection of materials and supportive equipment needed to meet instructional, institutional, and individual needs of students and faculty, clearly communicating information about the library to all users

* Provide leadership in identifying learning resources needs

* Assist in developing and implementing plans for the improvement of library services and coordinate the evaluation of campus library services with appropriate college personnel

* Establish conditions and training programs to assist faculty, students and other patrons in the appropriate use of resource materials; teach library orientation classes as requested by the faculty

* Determine and submit to the Dean of Library Services, requirements and priorities for budget, personnel, equipment and facility

* Serve as a professional staff librarian assuming responsibilities necessary to the position; provide reference assistance and bibliographic instruction as needed to ensure effective utilization of library resources

Coordinate collection development, acquisitions, weeding and discards. Select books and other materials to support curriculum and other college courses, evaluate the collection with participation of the faculty

Coordinate necessary reports, surveys and documentation concerning resources and services, and utilize data provided by each department within the library to reflect usage, needs and accomplishments

Provide leadership to develop a staff of qualified, concerned, and involved in serving the needs of the students, faculty, and community

Assume such other duties as assigned by the Dean of Library Services and provide information relative to activities, problems, needs, and accomplishments


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of automated library systems and other standard library hardware

Functional knowledge of public services, reference, technical services

Knowledge of a full range of library procedures and routine processes

Ability to teach library bibliographic instruction and information literacy concepts to new students

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Extensive knowledge of computers and software such as Windows 2007 and Blackboard

Proficient in MS Office products including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point

Requirements:

Masters in Library Sciences or a Master's degree in Information Sciences and five years experience working in a Library

Two years supervisory experience
