Kamp Kairphree, a co-ed day camp for children ages 5 to 12 operating out of the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, is seeking a Site Supervisor for its 2026 summer season. The Site Supervisor is a valuable member of the camp leadership team, assisting the Director and Assistant Director with the oversight of Kamp Kairphree supervising staff and campers and acting as the main supervisor when the Directors are performing other duties.
Required program dates and times: Site Supervisors are required to attend all of the following dates and times:
Camp Season: - Weekdays June 30, 2026 to August 14, 2026 (No camp Friday, July 3rd) - 8:30 A.M. to 4:15 P.M. (Approx 35 hours per week)
Orientation:- June 2, 2026 starting at 4 P.M.
- June 28, 2026 – 9:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
- June 29, 2026 – 9:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Ability to supervise staff and children ages 5-12 in all situations including the waterfront making responsible decisions and judgements and acting as a Director or Assistant Director in their absence.
Abiity to plan and lead on-site camp activities, games and crafts, including being flexible to unplanned schedule changes and keeping groups active during any unexpected waiting periods.
Must be available to work the entire camp season and attend all required orientations, trainings, and staff meetings.
Skilled with time-management and multitasking, including the ability to follow through on directions and tasks given by the Director and Assistant Director.
Ability to maintain a positive, flexible, and patient approach to working with campers and staff.
Prior experience working with, teaching or coaching youth in a group recreational setting such as camp, youth group or after school programs for a minimum of 16 weeks.
Prior experience managing other staff members.
Must posses, or be willing to obtain, First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
Must be at least 21 years of age or older by the time camp begins.
Subject to a background check and reference check. Functions as a member of the camp leadership team, planning, managing and supervising camp activities and operations as directed by the Director and Assistant Director.
Supervisea and manages camp groups and staff on beach days at Greenwich Point Park.
Managea the loading and unloading of camp buses during arrival, dismissal, and beach trips, recording it in the attendance app and acting as the main liaison between bus counselors and camp leadership.
Prepares and ensures appropriate supplies and equipment are ready and accessible to staff and campers for each camp day taking into account scheduled activities and locations.
Acts as the “first line of defense” for camp staff who may need assistance with their group, escalating problems to the Assistant Director and Director as necessary.
Assista with covering any groups or activities that may be short staffed or require additional personnel by participating in or leading activities and acting as a temporary counselor.
Enforces the highest level of safety at all times, ensuring staff adhere to camp policies and making recommendations to Directors for ways that safety can be improved.
Ensures groups are properly following weekly camp schedule, and makes recommendations to Directors regarding schedule changes when necessary.
Participates in pre-season camp planning and preparation and post-season wrap up and equipment storage.
Performs other duties as assigned.
