Job Description

The Technician Helper supports the installation of low-voltage cabling systems on commercial and industrial job sites. This entry-level role focuses on pulling and running cable, organizing materials, and using basic hand tools while working under the guidance of experienced technicians. It offers a strong training pathway into the low-voltage trade for motivated individuals who want to build a long-term career.

Responsibilities

• Pull cable and run cabling through ceiling tiles and other pathways as directed.
• Assist with the installation of low-voltage cabling systems, including data, fire alarm, and other low-voltage infrastructure.
• Move, lift, and organize materials and equipment, including items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Use hand tools safely and effectively to support cable installation and related tasks.
• Support termination and testing of data cables and low-voltage wiring under supervision.
• Work on commercial construction sites, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings.
• Follow all safety procedures while working on vacant job sites and around non-live wiring.
• Travel to various job sites within the greater Nashville area, including locations such as Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and Madison.
• Report to the office on the first day for onboarding, then travel directly to assigned job sites thereafter.
• Maintain flexibility to work weekend shifts and additional overtime as needed, including being open to working within approximately 50 miles of Nashville.

Essential Skills

• At least 1+ years of experience using hand tools in a work setting.
• At least 1+ years of experience in construction, wiring, cable pulling, manufacturing, or machine operation.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Comfort working on commercial construction and industrial job sites.
• Willingness and ability to work mandatory weekend shifts and additional overtime when needed.
• Openness to commuting within the greater Nashville area, including surrounding cities.
• Motivated, reliable, and eager to learn a skilled trade in low-voltage cabling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with low-voltage cabling is a plus.
• Experience in cable pulling, low-voltage installation, fire alarm systems, data cable work, or termination testing is beneficial.
• Experience reading spreadsheets is helpful for tracking work or materials.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment or machine operation is an advantage.
• Interest in progressing into a lead or supervisory role over time.

Work Environment

Work takes place on commercial construction job sites, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings. All sites are vacant during work, and you will not work with live wire. The role involves regular use of hand tools and low-voltage installation equipment in active construction and retrofit environments. Current openings are for a weekend-focused schedule, with mandatory shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, paid at an overtime rate. Optional additional shifts are available on Friday and Monday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, paid at a straight-time rate, allowing flexibility to work only weekends or to add extra days for more hours. You will report to the office on the first day and then travel directly to job sites in the greater Nashville area, including locations such as Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and Madison. The role requires comfort with commuting within roughly 50 miles of Nashville and working overtime when needed in a physically active, construction-style environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Nashville,TN.
