We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer / Materials Planner to support our Operations and Planning teams. In this role, you will ensure the timely procurement of materials to support production schedules, maintain optimal inventory levels, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive supply chain efficiency. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys solving complex supply and demand challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Review MRP exception reports to determine purchasing needs based on current inventory and forecasted demand
  • Place and manage purchase orders for assigned commodities, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy
  • Monitor open order reports and proactively expedite materials to meet production schedules
  • Partner with Production Planning, Receiving, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to ensure material availability and quality standards
  • Communicate supplier constraints, risks, and delays to internal stakeholders and help drive mitigation plans
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and address vendor issues related to quality, quantity, or pricing
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) meetings to support sourcing and material readiness
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure consistent performance against delivery and quality expectations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within purchasing and planning workflows
  • Support additional supply chain and procurement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, materials planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment preferred
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory planning concepts
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed purchasing decisions
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business systems
  • Knowledge of supplier management and procurement best practices
