GTSC is hiring aBusiness Systems Implementation Specialist for its Chantilly, Virginia staff. This is a hybrid-eligible role after 90 days.
GTSC is a professional services holding company operating in the government contracting space with approximately 800 employees across multiple subsidiaries (GST, Datawiz, AEITS, Bowen Group). We are executing a company-wide business systems modernization initiative to consolidate and optimize cross-departmental workflows that have grown fragmented over time.
This role is the implementation arm of that initiative. You will receive detailed design specifications and architecture decisions from senior leadership and translate them into configured, tested, and deployed solutions within our existing technology stack. The primary systems in scope are Unanet GovCon ERP, Microsoft 365 / Power Platform, and SharePoint Online.
This is not an architecture or strategy role. The business logic and system design decisions are made upstream. Your job is precise, disciplined execution: configure, build, test, document, deploy.
Key Responsibilities
Unanet ERP Configuration & Optimization
• Configure and optimize Unanet workflows including project setup, billing rules, approval chains, custom fields, and reporting across all GTSC entities
• Build and maintain Unanet custom reports, dashboards, and scheduled data exports
• Implement workflow automation within Unanet for finance, contracts, and project management processes
• Ensure all configurations align with DCAA compliance requirements and GovCon accounting standards
Microsoft Power Platform Implementation
• Build Power Automate flows to automate cross-departmental workflows (Finance, Contracts, IT, Ops, Sales)
• Develop Power Apps for internal forms, data capture, and operational tools as specified
• Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models connected to Unanet, SharePoint, and other data sources
• Implement scheduled data extraction and transformation routines between systems
SharePoint Online Solutions
• Build and maintain SharePoint lists, libraries, document workflows, and metadata architectures
• Configure permissions structures and information architecture across subsidiary sites
• Implement document management workflows and approval processes
Integration & Data Flow
• Configure and troubleshoot REST API integrations between Unanet, SharePoint, Power Platform, and other enterprise systems
• Build and maintain data pipelines using Power Automate, webhooks, and scheduled jobs
• Write SQL queries for data validation, reporting, and troubleshooting data flow between systems
• Support integration with emerging tools including AI/ML platforms and MCP connectors as directed
Testing, Documentation & Deployment
• Build all solutions in test/staging environments before production deployment
• Create and execute test plans with defined acceptance criteria for every implementation
• Produce comprehensive documentation for every workflow, configuration change, and automation-eliminating tribal knowledge
• Maintain a configuration change log and version history for all system modifications
Required Qualifications
• Unanet GovCon ERP: 3+ years hands-on experience with full platform configuration-not just timekeeping. Must demonstrate proficiency in project setup, billing rules, workflow configuration, custom fields, reporting, and approval chains.
• Microsoft Power Platform: 2+ years building production Power Automate flows, Power Apps, and Power BI dashboards. Not "aware of"-actively built and deployed.
• SharePoint Online: 2+ years building structured solutions-lists, libraries, metadata architecture, document workflows, permissions. End-user experience does not qualify.
• Microsoft 365 Administration: Working knowledge of Teams, Outlook, and Exchange Online at the configuration/automation level.
• SQL Fundamentals: Ability to write queries, understand relational data models, and troubleshoot data flow between systems. Does not need to be a DBA but must think in tables and joins.
• API/Integration Literacy: Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and webhooks. Must be able to configure and troubleshoot integrations between enterprise systems.
• GovCon Operations: Understanding of indirect rates, project accounting, contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF), and DCAA compliance implications on system workflows.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience: 3–7 years in a business systems implementation, ERP configuration, or similar role within a government contracting firm ($50M–$500M revenue preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
• Python or PowerShell scripting for data migration, bulk operations, and scheduled automation tasks
• Unanet reporting/BI module expertise (custom reports, dashboards, data exports)
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint (dual-ERP environments common in GovCon holding companies)
• Familiarity with AI/ML integration tools, MCP protocol, or API-driven AI platforms
• Active Secret clearance
Critical Role Attributes
This section is as important as the technical requirements. The right candidate for this role has a specific operational disposition:
• Executes specs as designed. This role receives architecture and design decisions from senior leadership. The expectation is faithful implementation, not redesign. Candidates who reflexively "improve" specifications based on personal preference are not a fit. If you see a design flaw, flag it-do not silently modify the solution.
• Documents everything. Every workflow, every Power Automate flow, every Unanet configuration change, every API integration must be documented. The company cannot afford another layer of tribal knowledge. If it isn't documented, it doesn't exist.
• Tests before deploying. All work is built in a test/staging environment, validated against acceptance criteria, and promoted to production only after sign-off. "I'll fix it in production" is a disqualifying statement.
• Handles cross-departmental stakeholders. This role touches Finance, Contracts, IT Operations, and Sales workflows. The candidate must communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders while maintaining discipline on the design specifications.
• Self-directed within guardrails. Once given a spec, the candidate should be able to execute without daily hand-holding. Escalates blockers proactively. Does not wait to be asked for status updates.
What This Role Is Not
• Not a Systems Architect - architecture decisions are made by senior leadership
• Not a Senior Developer - this is configuration and low-code implementation, not software engineering
• Not IT Infrastructure - network, servers, and endpoint management are handled by the IT Operations team
• Not a Project Manager - this role executes work packages, not manages project portfolios
Work Environment & Benefits
• Hybrid work environment based in Chantilly, VA (GTSC headquarters)
• Direct visibility to CEO and C-suite on modernization initiatives
• Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI integration tools and automation platforms
• Competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
• Professional development support for Unanet, Microsoft, and related certifications
