Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.
Role Overview:
The Business Systems Consultant - Associate assists and contributes to the design, development, and delivery of business applications, with a primary focus on low‑code/no‑code solutions within the Microsoft Power Platform. This role agency program areas by helping translate requirements into functional applications, participating in system improvements, and collaborating with senior engineers, architects, and supervisors in a learning-focused environment. As an associate-level engineer you will help enable the success of IDEM through:
The selected candidate will contribute to the agency’s ability to fulfill legally mandated duties and responsibilities. IDEM's mission includes compliance with state and federal environmental laws and regulations. The position's role in developing and supporting the enforcement of governance, policies, and technical standards ensures that the agency's cloud-based IT systems operate within the boundaries of applicable policies and regulations.
A two (2) year degree in the field of computer science, or similarly relevant area of study, from an accredited academic institution.
A minimum of one (1) years’ experience working directly on low code/no code application development.
These activities ensure that agency staff and the public have reliable access to the information and services necessary for environmental protection and regulatory compliance.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $55,224.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

The Business System Consultant – Associate follows general guidelines under the direct supervision of a manager or higher-level staff.
