The BI Developer will serve as the primary Power BI expert responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise‑grade dashboards, semantic models, and analytics solutions. This role focuses heavily on Power BI development, including advanced DAX, data modeling, performance tuning, and governance. The developer will extract and prepare data from Oracle databases and transform it into scalable, high‑performing Power BI datasets and reports that support business decision‑making. Oracle DBA experience is not required but is considered a valuable plus for supporting performance tuning, query optimization, and general database reliability.
Core Responsibilities
Power BI Development
- Build interactive, executive‑ready Power BI dashboards with drill‑downs, KPIs, bookmarks, tooltips, and advanced visualizations.
- Develop robust semantic models, star/snowflake schemas, and optimized datasets for enterprise reporting.
- Write advanced DAX (time intelligence, row‑level security, dynamic measures, calculation groups).
- Use Power Query (M) to clean, transform, and shape data for reporting.
- Implement dataset refresh strategies, incremental refresh, and performance optimization.
- Manage Power BI Service: workspaces, deployment pipelines, gateways, permissions, and governance.
- Create dataflows, reusable entities, and standardized models for self‑service BI.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reconciliation between source systems and Power BI outputs.
- Apply best practices for visual design, usability, and storytelling.
Oracle Data Extraction & Integration
- Extract and prepare data from Oracle 12c/19c using SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and views.
- Build ETL/ELT pipelines to move Oracle data into Power BI (Import, DirectQuery, or hybrid).
- Optimize Oracle queries for performance, scalability, and refresh efficiency.
- Collaborate with DBAs and data engineering teams to validate data structures and ensure reliable data ingestion.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–8+ years in BI development with a strong emphasis on Power BI.
- Expert‑level Power BI skills, including:
- Advanced DAX
