System Analyst III (Business Analyst / Quality Assurance Analyst)

Duration: Approximately 15 Months

Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid – Onsite Required)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced System Analyst with a strong blend of Business Analysis and Quality Assurance expertise to support enterprise application initiatives within an Agile environment. This role is responsible for gathering, documenting, validating, and testing business requirements while serving as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Agile methodologies, Azure DevOps (or similar tools), business process analysis, testing activities, and project documentation. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid work schedule with mandatory onsite presence two days per week.
Initial onboarding period requires full-time onsite attendance.
Candidates must be available for in-person interviews.
Preference for candidates located within commuting distance of Lansing, Michigan.
Opportunity for long-term engagement with potential conversion to a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements.
Develop business process flows, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Analyze current-state and future-state business processes.
Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications.
Create and maintain project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process improvements and solution requirements.
Assist with product roadmap planning and business process optimization.

Quality Assurance & Testing

Develop test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases.
Execute functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
Identify, document, track, and manage defects through resolution.
Validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
Support production validation and post-deployment verification activities.

Agile Project Support

Facilitate Agile processes and support Scrum team activities.
Manage user stories, features, epics, and work items within Azure DevOps or similar tools.
Coordinate with project managers and team members to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule.
Monitor project progress and maintain project artifacts and documentation.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of Business Analyst experience.
Minimum 3 years of Quality Assurance Analyst experience.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps or similar project management tools (e.g., JIRA).

Features
Epics
Acceptance Criteria
Business Process Documentation
Experience with current-state and future-state process analysis.
Experience creating and maintaining product roadmaps.
Understanding of Business Analysis, Quality Assurance, and Development roles and responsibilities.
Experience developing test plans, test cases, and executing testing activities.
Familiarity with business analysis and process modeling tools such as:
Figma
Visio
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
