Building Manager

The Building Manager ensures the facility operation, cleanliness, safety, and professional appearance of government facilities. This role involves coordinating staff schedules, service contractors, managing chemical and paper product inventories, and ensuring all work meets health and safety regulations.


Under general direction, manages building operations and maintenance activities. Supervises and directs the work performed by building maintenance and housekeeping staffs. Plans building operation and maintenance work schedules. Performs other job-related duties as required.Bachelor's Degree in Business/Public Administration is preferred. Three years of full-time paid managerial experience in the Building Facility Maintenance field required.

Location: City Hall Building

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Assign daily tasks to a team of 28-32 custodial staff; oversee the activities of in-house and visiting maintenance personnel and contractors conduct performance reviews and safety training.

  • Quality Assurance: Perform daily walk-through inspections to ensure offices, restrooms, and public lobbies meet “Class A” office standards.
  • Training Coordination: Identifies training and education needs for the staff under supervision and facilitates identifying appropriate courses for their professional development.
  • Compliance: Maintain Material Safety Data sheets (MSDS) for all cleaning chemicals and ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor supply levels and submit procurement requests for equipment and cleaning agents.
  • Security Adherence: Ensure all staff follow strict security protocols regarding sensitive office areas and key card usage.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years in commercial cleaning, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role. Have a working familiarity with the operation and maintenance of commercial building systems.
  • Skills: Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment (buffers, extractors) and basic proficiency in office software for reporting. Basic knowledge of commercial building systems. Able to understand and participate in construction meetings.
  • Clearance: Must be able to pass a background check and maintain a security clearance as required by the agency.
