Job Title: Senior BMS Hardware Engineer

Location: Mountain View, California (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior BMS Hardware Engineer to join the next-generation autonomous aircraft development program for Urban Air Mobility (UAM). The engineer will lead the design and development of safety-critical Battery Management System (BMS) hardware for Gen 6 aircraft platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced BMS hardware systems for high-voltage aircraft applications.
  • Design and develop analog/digital circuits, power conversion boards, sensor interfaces, and embedded control hardware.
  • Work closely with Systems, Mechanical, Test, Safety, and Certification teams to deliver fully integrated and reliable hardware solutions.
  • Perform hardware integration, validation, troubleshooting, and rigorous testing for safety-critical aerospace systems.
  • Own hardware lifecycle activities including design, verification, procurement support, and production readiness.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical requirement definition, certification support, and engineering best practices.
  • Support documentation and verification activities aligned with aerospace certification standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical hiring/interview processes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • Strong experience in Battery Management Systems (BMS) and High Voltage (HV) systems.
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, EV, or other safety-critical embedded systems environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in analog and digital electronics design.
  • Strong experience with PCB/PCBA schematic capture and layout tools, preferably Altium Designer.
  • Experience with embedded hardware platforms including:
  • Microcontrollers
  • Microprocessors
  • FPGA-based systems
  • Firmware/hardware integration
  • Good understanding of:
  • Embedded systems architecture
  • Sensor interface boards
  • Power electronics / power conversion design
  • Interconnect systems
  • Strong debugging, validation, and hardware integration skills.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience with aerospace standards such as:
  • DO-254
  • DO-160G
  • Experience working on electric aircraft, eVTOL, EV, or autonomous mobility platforms.
  • Exposure to certification-driven development environments.
