As a Building Automation Technician, you will install, integrate, troubleshoot, and optimize controls systems that support reliable, efficient operation of hyperscale data centers. This is a hands-on role working across HVAC and critical building systems, with a strong emphasis on uptime, cybersecurity, and disciplined execution. This technician manages operations of multiple data center sites, driving the strategic direction for performance and health analysis, mentoring teams, and ensuring alignment with business objectives and security goals. Responsibilities include directing capacity evaluations, resolving complex technical issues, implementing advanced automation in issue triage, and establishing best practices and a continually evolving knowledge base. The role also sets strategy for incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement while collaborating across functions. Additionally, it oversees regional expansion projects, acts as a key liaison with project and engineering teams, and leads strategic planning for installations, repairs, inventory, logistics, and large-scale infrastructure upgrades, providing executive-level recommendations and mentorship throughout.
This position will be based onsite at the Shackelford County, Texas, Data Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot automation systems and field devices, including PLC/DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and networked controls.
- Integrate controls platforms with BMS/DCIM and OT/IT networks; validate sequences and tune performance to meet operational requirements.
- Perform functional testing, preventive/predictive maintenance, software updates, and structured RCA on complex automation failures.
- Maintain accurate documentation (as-builts, point lists, sequences, test results) and support operational readiness through turnover and training.
- Execute work in alignment with automation cybersecurity and change-control requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including deployment of analytics, trending standards, and commissioning enhancements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Advanced controls/automation experience in mission-critical or industrial environments.
- Strong protocol and integration experience (BACnet/Modbus/LonWorks), multi-vendor environments, and OT security awareness.
