Brand Licensing Royalty Analyst

ACI Licensing, LLC
Los Angeles, CA

ACI Licensing, LLC (https://www.acilicensing.com) is an established brand licensing agency and also a brand owner quickly expanding its consumer product brand portfolio for licensing to manufacturers and retailers.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical individual to manage our brand licensing royalty tracking and collection process. This role requires someone who is comfortable with numbers and contract logic but prefers a focused workflow over general financial accounting. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that licensees' contractual obligations are met in terms of quarterly royalty reporting and payments.

Responsibilities

  • Royalty Management: Receive and review quarterly royalty reports from licensees to ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Financial Tracking: Record royalties earned and determine payment amount due based on contract terms and current payment status.
  • Payment Oversight: Monitor the application of advances and Guaranteed Minimum Royaltiy (GMR) payments, ensuring credits are applied correctly across reporting periods.
  • Collections & Follow-up: Follow up with licensees regarding outstanding payments or missing reports.
  • Discrepancy Analysis: Create and maintain "Payment Status Sheets" to reconcile differences between licensee payments and contractual obligations.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate royalty calculations and payment discrepancies to ACI Licensing management and licensees.
  • Royalty forecasting: Provide crucial input and guidance for ACI's annual revenue forecast for each license, based on the quarterly Guaranteed Minimum Royalty obligations for the coming year and the actual quarterly royalties reported by each licensee for the past four quarters.

Qualifications

  • Education: A 4-year college degree (Accounting, Finance, or a related field) is preferred as a demonstration of strong numeracy and analytical reasoning.
  • Experience: Previous experience in royalty analysis, contract administration or account management is a plus, but we are willing to train someone with the right foundational skills.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, particularly for managing payment tracking sheets and dynamic calculations.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret contract terms and apply them to each account.
