About The Boat Shop

The Boat Shop is a family-owned marine sales and service dealership in Shreveport, Louisiana, and an authorized Vexus, Trifecta, SeaArk, and Caymas dealer. We started service-only in 2014 with a toolbox and two chairs, and we have grown into the premier marine service center in the Shreveport-Bossier area. We are a 10-person crew, the owners are on the floor every day, and every one of us is an avid boater. We do not just work on the water. We live on it.

We are selling fun, and if we cannot have fun while we are doing it, how are we supposed to sell it?

Why This Role Exists

The work in this industry has changed. We are not working on old John boats with two strokes anymore. We are rigging premium boats that carry tens of thousands of dollars in Garmin and Humminbird electronics, running network cabling, and solving 12-volt problems. It is clean, modern, high-tech work, and we are growing. We are adding a technician who can take a boat from check-in to delivery and make it perfect.

What You Will Do

  • Perform annual outboard services accurately and efficiently.

  • Rig and integrate modern marine electronics, including multi-display installs and camera mounts, to a finish a customer will admire.

  • Diagnose 12-volt electrical issues, tracing grounds, connections, and faults.

  • Run network and power cabling cleanly and precisely so any future technician can service the boat.

  • Quality-check every repair and confirm boats run right, including test-driving high-performance models.

  • Keep documentation, parts requests, and time tracking complete and accurate.

When it is done, and the customer comes and looks at it, and they say, wow, how did you do that. That is what we are after.

What We Are Looking For

We will train almost any skill. What we cannot train is the mindset. We need someone who cares enough to do everything in their ability to make a job right, who takes pride in clean work, and who fits a tight, fun, team-first shop.

Why Veterans Thrive Here

If you came out of a maintenance, electrical, avionics, communications, or shipboard role, you already own the core of this job. The 12-volt fault-chasing we care most about is the same instinct you used tracing a dead circuit on a vehicle or a comms set, and we will teach you the marine-specific layer. Our finish-quality standard maps directly to the inspection-ready standards you already know.

The culture maps too. This is a tight crew that hunts, fishes, and hangs out on the water together, with owners who win and lose alongside their people. We are minutes from Barksdale Air Force Base, and the VA is a short walk from the shop. If you miss the team and the shared mission, you will find it here.

We all win together, and we all lose together. If we have to work a few extra hours, it is not going to be you working extra time, it is going to be us.

Requirements

  • A strong working knowledge of the 12-volt DC circuit and the ability to chase wiring faults, grounds, and connections. This is the one hard technical floor.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with rigging, installs, and component repair (this is not heavy engine teardown).
  • Willingness to learn and configure modern marine electronics.
  • Attention to detail and a personal standard for finish quality.
  • Ability to operate and test boats, including high-performance models.
Nice To Have, Not Required

Prior boat experience helps, but it is not required. Factory training from our engine manufacturers and a Garmin installer class are provided after hire. If you have the electrical instinct and the right mindset, we will teach you the rest.

Compensation

This role pays a base plus billable production, with total earnings in the $65,000 to $90,000 range depending on the hours you bill. You earn an hourly base to show up, plus pay on the hours you bill. Our time standards are set fair, so you are never pushed to cut corners to make time. You can live on the base, and the billed hours work like a bonus at the end of the month. Our average technician bills 70 hours a month, and our top technicians bill 100.

Optional Saturday hours in the summer are paid at time and a half.
