Board Trustee

Equiton
Dallas, TX

About the Role

As an Independent Member on the Board of Trustees (Independent Trustee) for Equiton’s first U.S. private real estate fund, you will play a critical role in overseeing fund governance, strategy, risk management, and investor protection. As an Independent Trustee you will be responsible for exercising objective judgment, ensuring compliance with fiduciary and regulatory standards, and ensuring conflict of interest matters get resolved in the best interest of the fund and its investors.

Given this is Equiton’s inaugural U.S. fund, trustees will be expected to sit in more of an advisory function assisting the firm in establishing its market presence and sharing practical guidance to support success, and where appropriate, make introductions to accelerate Equiton’s U.S. presence and relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Governance and Oversight:

  • Quarterly formal board meetings, supplemented by additional meetings and regular advisory touchpoints with management during the initial U.S. launch phase.
  • Provide guidance around fund performance, capital deployment, risk exposure, valuation considerations and governance matters.
  • Review board materials in advance to make informed, objective decisions.
  • Evaluate and approve transactions involving potential conflicts of interest or related-party considerations
  • Uphold fiduciary, regulatory, and governance obligations at the highest standard.

Advisory Support (U.S. Launch Focus)

  • Provide practical guidance to help Equiton successfully establish and scale its U.S. platform
  • Offer insight into U.S. multi-residential investment, operating dynamics, and market conditions
  • Support Equiton’s credibility and positioning with U.S. stakeholders, including investors, advisors, and strategic partners
  • Participate in advisory communications with management beyond formal board meetings, fostering a strong working relationship

What You Bring

Equiton is seeking a group of trustees whose collective experience spans the areas below. It is not expected that any one individual will possess all competencies.

Real Estate & Multi-Residential (U.S.)

  • Deep experience with U.S. multi-residential apartment assets, ideally including exposure to high-growth US markets
  • Background in core, core-plus, value-add, opportunistic, and development categories including operations and institutional asset management.

Capital Raising & Distribution (Alternatives)

  • Experience raising capital for alternative real estate investments through one or more channels, including:
  • Direct-to-investor / retail capital
  • Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), wealth management platforms, and advisor networks
  • Institutional investors (pensions, endowments, family offices, consultants)

Governance & Risk

  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, fiduciary duties, and risk oversight within private investment vehicles (including regulatory compliance)
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and contribute effectively in a trustee or board capacity
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort reviewing complex investment, financial, and transaction materials

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Prior experience as an independent trustee or board director for a private fund, REIT, or similar structure
  • Governance credentials (e.g., NACD, ICD equivalent, or similar)
