Job Title: Biospecimen Coordinator
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Biospecimen Coordinator to join our dynamic laboratory team. This role involves handling and processing a variety of biological samples to support our ongoing projects and clinical trials.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and accurately enter data for all specimens entering the laboratory.
  • Open packages to verify information on requisition forms with the collection container for accuracy.
  • Capture and enter specimen information into computer database systems, including LIMS and Bioinventory.
  • Document within electronic master files, including uploading, completing documents, and using document exchange portals.
  • Maintain compliance with multiple project protocols and requirements.
  • Examine specimen adequacy for processing.
  • Label and measure volumes for specimen samples.
  • Meet key production metrics and quality measures for timely and accurate sample results.
  • Take pictures of data on specimen containers for quality control purposes.
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper facilities as needed.
  • Properly store specimen samples when required.
  • Assist clients and project managers with inquiries on specimen requirements and test turnaround times.
  • Identify and document situations that may adversely impact sample integrity and notify management.
  • Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste responsibly.
  • Sort and prepare paperwork for scanning.
  • Answer the loading dock door for incoming shipments and couriers.
  • Perform administrative duties including filing paperwork and answering phones.
  • Sanitize workstations regularly.
  • Collaborate respectfully with all team members.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures and policies.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field.
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with sample preparation, data entry, and specimen handling.
  • Experience in clinical laboratory or related work environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office and Teams.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks with a high level of accuracy.
  • Comfortable handling biological materials, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Clinical trial experience is preferred.
  • Previous medical or laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Medical tech background or knowledge is advantageous.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs and work in protective equipment.
  • Capability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • High level of attention to detail with problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed.
Work Environment

Our laboratory has been at the forefront of biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics since 1999. The role involves working with a variety of incoming samples, including saliva, DNA, blood, stool, and urine. Candidates will need to be comfortable working with these specimens and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Piscataway, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
