BIOLOGIST MANAGER - MONROE
This is a managerial position involving responsibility for all wildlife-related issues on public and private lands in the Monroe Region, as well as coordination with statewide Biologist Program Managers. This position directly supervises one Administrative Coordinator, one Biologist Supervisor, and one Biologist. This position reports budgetary needs and purchasing activities directly to the Biologist Program Manager and the Biologist Director. Matters involving hunting regulations, certain regional activities, and changing work priorities are sometimes accomplished through direct contact with the Division Administrator. This position derives additional complexity from dealing with private and governmental individuals and groups who often represent completely different agendas from the incumbent. Position oversees and manages the Monroe office complex and facilities, including bunkhouses and/or equipment sheds located on Wildlife Management Areas.
A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus six years of experience in wildlife or fisheries, forestry, or environmental science; ORJOB DUTIES

This position will be domiciled in Ouachita Parish.
Appointment Type: This position is open only to classified LDWF employees serving with permanent status. This position may be filled as a job appointment, probational appointment, promotion or detail to special duty.
Physical demands: Moderate to strenuous physical exertion is required for such activities as climbing, lifting objects over 50 pounds, crouching, or crawling in restricted areas or in inclement weather. Weekend work, overnight stay, and early morning departure are required, as well as day and night work in boats and airboats.
