Job Summary

The Biologist will support Process Development activities for therapeutic candidates by performing hands-on laboratory research, sample preparation, aliquoting, inventory management, and analytical support. This role will contribute to AAV batch production, cell culture studies, molecular biology assays, and laboratory operations while collaborating closely with Process Development and Analytical Development teams. The successful candidate will maintain high-quality documentation, manage critical biological samples, and support equipment maintenance in a fast-paced research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute AAV batch production to support nonclinical research activities.
  • Culture, passage, and expand mammalian cells for research studies.
  • Perform molecular biology assays, including PCR and ddPCR.
  • Conduct transient transfections and maintain aseptic cell culture practices.
  • Prepare buffers, process samples, and generate aliquots for experimental studies.
  • Manage biological sample inventory, including storage and tracking in -80°C freezers and liquid nitrogen systems.
  • Coordinate sample submissions and serve as a liaison with the Analytical Development team.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN), and technical reports.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data from cell and molecular biology studies.
  • Support laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, and inventory management.
  • Handle high-value biological samples while ensuring compliance with laboratory procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of laboratory research experience, or Master's degree with laboratory research experience in academia or industry.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology and cell biology principles.
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, transient transfection, PCR, and ddPCR.
  • Experience maintaining detailed laboratory documentation and experimental records.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional research environment.
  • Detail-oriented with experience handling critical biological samples.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with protein expression systems.
  • Hands-on experience with HEK293 and/or Sf9 cell culture systems.
  • Experience in viral vector or gene therapy development.
  • Prior experience with AAV-based research or manufacturing processes.
