This role oversees BIM/VDC staff, manages the creation and coordination of 3D electrical models, and supports project teams through all phases of design, coordination, prefabrication, and construction. The position plays a key role in multi-trade coordination, technology adoption, and delivering high-quality digital models and documentation for a long-term hospital project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide BIM/VDC standards, workflows, templates, families, and content libraries.
  • Manage BIM/VDC staff, including coordinators and modelers, by providing coaching, feedback, and performance oversight.
  • Oversee the creation, coordination, and quality of 3D Revit electrical fabrication and construction models, ensuring alignment with project requirements and constructability best practices.
  • Conduct and participate in clash detection and coordination meetings with other trades, using tools such as Navisworks to resolve issues while maintaining project schedule and budget.
  • Collaborate with project leadership during preconstruction to support BIM-based planning, logistics, sequencing, and integration of cost and schedule data.
  • Provide quality control oversight for BIM deliverables, shop drawings, and prefabrication packages to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support field teams by troubleshooting BIM-related issues and clearly communicating digital model intent to onsite personnel.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, and inspectors to support successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and help implement emerging technologies such as AR/VR, reality capture, and UAVs to improve workflows and project outcomes.
  • Prepare RFP documentation for BIM-related scopes and manage subcontractors when workload requires additional support.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, BIM execution plans, safety protocols, and internal company standards.
  • Provide technical support for BIM applications to project teams and act as a subject matter expert for BIM/VDC tools.
  • Manage and maintain the team’s Revit add-in tooling to ensure consistent and efficient results across multiple projects.
  • Develop, update, and maintain 3D BIM models for electrical systems using Revit, AutoCAD, and related design tools.
  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings, shop drawings, and prefabrication documentation for electrical construction.
  • Support BIM coordination meetings by streamlining clash resolution processes and documenting decisions and model updates.
  • Troubleshoot BIM model challenges and facilitate cross-team coordination to resolve design and constructability issues.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and field staff to improve the quality, clarity, and constructability of BIM deliverables.
  • Review opportunities to improve work through new software and processes, helping the team stay aligned with industry best practices.
  • Participate in project site visits as needed to verify installation information and coordinate with electrical construction activities.
  • Work independently after initial guidance, managing priorities and tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ask appropriate questions related to assignments, proactively identify issues, and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain excellent organization and a positive, professional demeanor when working under pressure or managing multiple deadlines.
  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, safety requirements, and ethical business practices.

Essential Skills

  • 2–5 years of BIM coordination or modeling experience, ideally within electrical construction environments.
  • Proficiency with Revit for creating, coordinating, and managing 3D electrical models and associated content.
  • Experience with BIM and VDC workflows, including multi-trade coordination and clash detection.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, mechanical, and structural plans.
  • Experience working for an electrical contractor or on MEP systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical installation practices and NEC guidelines.
  • Experience generating prefabrication drawings and models for electrical systems.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn and apply new BIM-related software and practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot BIM model issues and provide effective technical support to project teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with project teams and presenting information to groups.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after initial training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD for 2D and 3D drawing production.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
  • Experience maintaining and standardizing BIM content libraries, templates, and Revit families.
  • Experience maintaining and supporting Revit add-ins and related productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR, reality capture, and UAV technologies and their application in construction workflows.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, field staff, and external partners.
