Intake Associate & Community Advocate (Bilingual English/Spanish)

Location: Remote within New York State (Preferred: Albany region, NYC metro area, or Appalachian regions of New York)

Compensation: $30-33/hr

Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm


Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking a bilingual English/Spanish Intake Associate & Community Advocate to support New York residents facing utility-related challenges involving electric, gas, water, internet, phone, and other essential services.


This role is approximately:

• 50% Client Intake & Case Support

• 25% Community Outreach & Advocacy

• 25% Research, Writing & Special Projects


Key Responsibilities

Client Services & Advocacy

• Serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking assistance

• Help residents navigate utility-related issues and connect with available resources

• Communicate with utility companies, agencies, and community organizations to help resolve concerns

• Maintain accurate case documentation and records


Community Outreach

• Participate in virtual and in-person trainings, workshops, and community events

• Build relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and elected officials

• Support outreach efforts across New York State

Research & Administrative Support

• Conduct research and assist with reports, presentations, public comments, and advocacy materials

• Support internal projects and cross-functional initiatives

• Track activities and maintain detailed records in a remote work environment

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required

• Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

• Passion for helping vulnerable and underserved populations
