The Police Department Bicycle Recovery Specialist (BRS) responds to bicycle related complaints, including retrieving, tagging, storing and inventorying abandoned, illegally parked, or found bicycles. This position will identify stolen bicycles, locate and notify owners and arrange for the return of bicycles, and is also responsible for preparing unclaimed bicycles for online auction and disposing of junk bicycles. The BRS will use police computer and filling systems, organize data, and information as requested. The position assists Property Clerks in researching the disposition of various cases and related property and/or evidence. The BRS will participate in the transportation, disposition, and destruction of property according to established procedures. Work is performed under limited supervision of the Police Property Supervisor. It is the expectation of the Police Department that all employees will embrace and follow the Department's Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
HOURS:0-20 hours per week with variable/flexible schedule between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

- Maintain proper chain of custody of property/material from receipt through final disposition of bicycles via the Law Enforcement Records Management System.
- Conduct and reconcile audits and inventories of the bicycle control system.
Customer Service- Respond to and resolve inquiries from internal and external customers regarding property via telephone, email, and written requests.
- Prepare correspondence to owners, commissioned officers, Police Property Supervisor, and multiple outside agencies.
Miscellaneous- Maintain and clean equipment associated with bicycle handling and storage.
- Assist Property Clerks with special projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the Police Property Supervisor.
- Six (6) months of experience (work, volunteer, or in the community) in any of the following areas: customer service, stock clerk, computerized recordkeeping, or public safety.

Possession of a valid driver's license by the date of hire
Ability to obtain and maintain Transaction Information for the Management of Enforcement (TIME) Certification. Failure to obtain the certification/access within 12 months of hire may result in forfeiture of the position, absent extenuating circumstances.
Physical Requirements:
