Business Intelligence Analyst

Location: New York, New York; 3 days per week on site in our Hudson Yards office

Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable BI Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless operation of our IT & data systems by maintaining our data warehouse and reporting platform that provides data insights into business questions for the marketing and operations teams at our Jewelry and Pet consumer brands. Over time, you’ll expand our data warehouse to incorporate more of our consumer brands data.



What You'll Do


  • Build, enhance, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports used by various teams that support both B2C/B2B channels including building and maintaining
  • Operational reports for our warehouse including damage rates and on time fulfillments
  • Unit sales and inventory levels that support forecasting by our purchasing team
  • Orders by B2B partner, shipping type, or channel for our marketing team
  • COGs, margins, and profitability reports for finance and leadership, and other weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports used by various business teams.


  • Write and optimize SQL queries against an existing Amazon Redshift data warehouse to support reporting and ad hoc analysis. Answer recurring and ad hoc business questions with clear data insights and visualizations.
  • Assist in maintaining/upgrading data sources including Shopify, shipping platforms, marketing platforms, and more to ensure real-time data continues to flow into Redshift.
  • Establish and implement common views of data used by various reports to improve maintainability and accuracy of data sources across both existing and new reports.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure reports are accurate, timely, and actionable.
  • Document metrics definitions, data sources, and reporting logic to improve consistency and trust in data.


Who You Are


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1–2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying relational data warehouses (we use Amazon Redshift). You should be able to write performant queries and explain joins.
  • Hands-on experience building reports and dashboards in Tableau or comparable system
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical approaches and communicate findings clearly.
  • Detail-oriented approach to investigating and validating data sources
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Understanding of retail/ecommerce concepts including COGs, Inventory turn, seasonality, forecasting, on-hand inventory, and direct-to-consumer vs drop-ship
  • Experience working with retail, ecommerce, or consumer brands (inventory-heavy businesses) a plus, as is experience working with inventory, sales, and financial datasets
  • Experience with Shopify or other retail/ecommerce platforms a plus
  • This position is based in New York and will require 2-3 days a week of in office time with occasional travel to CT required (once per month)
