Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking to hire a candidate for the Mobile Crisis Response Clinician II position for the Adult Mobile Crisis Response Program. Adult Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) provides a rapid response, assessment, and early intervention to residents and visitors in the City of Virginia Beach, City of Norfolk, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia when they experience a behavioral health crisis. Services will assist individuals experiencing a crisis or escalating emotional/behavioral symptoms which have impacted their ability to function in their family, living situation, community, school, or work environment.
The ideal candidate will be Licensed or license eligible LPC or LCSW, have experience working with crisis work as the primary job function, experience working with adults with mental health and substance use disorders and with completing complex assessments and evaluations.

Responsibilities:
Respond to calls through the Region Crisis Hub System by providing Community Crisis services to adult non-hospitalized individuals experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis to avert hospitalization or re-hospitalization by mobilizing resources of the community and natural support systems for ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation.
Complete clinical documentation and assures that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information are done accurately and within the time frame required.
Serve specialized populations and/or serve in specialized roles.
Complete crisis planning, clinical intervention, consultation, supportive counseling, transition planning and other duties in a Behavioral Health setting.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10:30pm including some Holidays and Weekends.
Afternoon/evening schedules associated with this position are eligible for shift differential pay according to City policy 2.08.

$1,000 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
$1,250 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
$1,750 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: Requires a four (4) year degree in a human services field (such as psychology, behavioral or mental health, special education, social work) and three (3) years experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and associated with such positions as Mental Health Counselor, Special Education Teacher, or Social Worker OR any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience and training equivalent to seven (7) years in fields providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid drivers license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or higher-level Mental Health professional such as LCSW. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferences:
Licensed or licensed eligible as an LPC, LCSW.

VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
