We are seeking a high performing Engineer to support R&D, scale-up, and process optimization in the energy and advanced materials sector. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across thin film coatings, polymer chemistry, electrochemistry, and lab-to-pilot scale operations.
This is an onsite role in Rochester, New York. Annual salary is commensurate with experience.
This role is well-suited for engineers passionate about next‑generation technologies such as:

Key Responsibilities:
-Conduct experimental research on energy-relevant polymer systems, thin film coatings, and advanced material formulations.
-Operate and troubleshoot laboratory thin-film fabrication tools.
-Scale up chemistries from benchtop synthesis to liter-scale and continuous roll-to-roll manufacturing.
-Use electrochemical characterization techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and EIS to characterize new materials.
-Execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to improve material quality, purity, yield, and process reproducibility.
Characterize materials using:
UV/Vis spectroscopy
Optical density measurements
Rheology
Mechanical/tensile testing
Produce detailed documentation
Present research findings and optimization results to engineering teams, technical sponsors, and external partners.
Required Qualifications:
-B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline
Strong academic foundation in:
Transport phenomena
Reaction engineering
Thermodynamics
Mass transfer
Hands-on experience with:
Thin-film coatings and materials processing
Polymer formulation and testing
Proficiency in:
MATLAB
Excel (including VBA)
Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication skills, with experience presenting results to sponsors or stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with coin cell and/or pouch cell assembly
-Familiarity with electrochemical characterization techniques such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry.
-Familiarity with roll-to-roll processing, scalable coating systems, or pilot-scale manufacturing.
Knowledge of materials used in:
Photovoltaics
Hydrogen and energy systems
Batteries or electrochemical devices
Sustainable chemical processes
