Full-time Applicant Salary Range: $110k- $160k /Yr.


Part-time Applicant Salary Range: $30-60/h depending on qualification and experience (with the opportunity to convert to full-time)


Job Locations: Argonne National Laboratory (Lemont, IL)

Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Battery Engineer/Scientist for our Materials Science and battery testing practice at Argonne National Lab. In this role, you will work as part of a team to contribute to our battery and materials science-related projects at HidrogeniCs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with battery-related research and possess a well-developed understanding of secondary and /or primary battery chemistries and material and battery characterization techniques.


Knowledge/experience with cell design and failure analysis is a plus. Responsibilities will include applying this experience to solve challenging, real-world battery electrochemistry and materials problems for our clients. This individual will work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers and will play a key role in designing and running experiments, as well as interpreting and presenting data. The successful applicant will display excellent written and verbal communications skills and contribute in preparing reports and presenting results to clients.


You will be responsible for

  • Applying your experience with battery research and development to solve challenging, real-world battery materials and electrochemistry problems

You Will Have the Following Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering with 2-5 years of battery and materials experience
  • PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering with related lab experience in battery materials development and testing
  • Specialized knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, and/or other battery technology
  • Hands-on experience with anode materials and anode chemistry
  • experience with cathode materials and chemistry is a plus
  • Well-developed understanding of cell design, and failure analysis are desirable
  • Hands-on material characterization experience
  • Hands-on battery characterization experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work within project teams with strong desire to contribute, have potential for technical and project managerial leadership
  • Must be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related fields

At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, health insurance (for full time candidates), annual bonus and stock options. The compensation package for the full-time position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
