Position Overview: The Middle School Orchestra Teacher will develop, lead, and inspire students in grades 6–8 through a comprehensive string program. The teacher will cultivate technical skill, ensemble collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation of music while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This role includes teaching students, directing ensembles, preparing students for concerts and festivals, and collaborating with colleagues in the arts department.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction for middle school band students at various levels of proficiency.
Direct band rehearsals, sectionals, and small ensemble work.
Plan and conduct concerts, performances, and community events throughout the school year.
Prepare students for regional, district, and state-level assessments, auditions, and festivals.
Maintain high expectations for student musicianship, behavior, and growth while fostering a supportive classroom culture.
Collaborate with other music and fine arts faculty on interdisciplinary projects, performances, and curriculum alignment.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, administrators, and community members regarding student progress and program events.
Maintain and organize instruments, sheet music, and equipment.
Participate in department meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education or related field
Valid state teaching license/certification or willingness to obtain
Experience working with middle school students in an ensemble or classroom setting.
Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
Ability to inspire a love of music and foster both individual and ensemble growth.
