Backend Java Engineer

Outstanding long-term contract opportunity! A well-known Financial Services Company is seeking a Software Engineer (Backend Java) in Dallas/Irving/Las Colinas, TX (Hybrid/Onsite strongly preferred).

Our client is launching a critical application in their digital banking platform and needs strong engineers ready to make an immediate impact. Contract Duration: 12 Months

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of Core Java backend development experience (minimum 3–4 years with REST APIs)
• Hands-on experience with Spring and Microservices architecture
• Strong SQL and MongoDB skills for robust data handling
• Kafka experience (minimum 1–2 years; publishing/subscribing expertise required)
• Exposure to Kubernetes or OpenShift (OCP) highly valued
• Proven experience with resilient architecture, engineering implementation patterns, and industry best practices
• Familiarity with GitHub; experience with Microsoft Copilot is a plus
• Test automation expected as part of standard engineering discipline

What You Will Be Doing

• Contribute immediately to the backend engineering of a new customer onboarding application
• Design and develop Java APIs and microservices powering the digital banking platform
• Leverage SQL and MongoDB to ensure reliable and efficient data management
• Integrate Kafka for messaging and event-driven processing
• Take part in deploying applications on Kubernetes or OpenShift, focusing on resilient design and operational excellence
• Apply DevOps practices with source control and CI/CD tools
• Participate in technical interviews and assessments to demonstrate depth and comparative advantage
• Collaborate within agile scrum teams composed of FTEs and contractors to achieve aggressive production launch timelines

• Backend-focused engineering backgrounds strongly preferred; Backend-heavy fullstack candidates may be considered
• Demonstrated stability in employment history highly valued (career contractors accepted if tenure is evident)
