Azure Platform Engineer

CMK Resources, Inc.
Redmond, WA

Location: Hybrid - Redmond, WA - Onsite as needed with customer

CMK Resources is partnering with a premier enterprise customer to identify a highly skilled Azure-focused infrastructure engineer to support a next-generation platform operating in a pre-production lab environment.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cloud, networking, and infrastructure, helping validate, integrate, and shape how modern platforms are deployed at scale before they reach production. You will work alongside a specialized engineer focused on Microsoft-based storage and systems integration, complementing that expertise with strong Azure architecture, Linux, and platform engineering capabilities.

Position Overview

In this role, you will operate within a lab-based environment focused on testing and validating infrastructure and platform integrations prior to global deployment. You will play a key role in designing, building, and validating Azure-integrated solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance across complex hybrid environments.

This is not a traditional operations role, it is focused on platform engineering, architecture, and pre-production validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and validate Azure-based and hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions in a pre-production lab environment
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate compute, networking, and storage technologies into a unified platform
  • Build and test infrastructure scenarios including performance, failover, and scalability
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and adapt designs based on evolving platform requirements
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams to support feature validation and integration efforts
  • Develop and maintain automation using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or similar
  • Utilize scripting (PowerShell, Bash) to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency
  • Create and maintain documentation including runbooks, validation procedures, and best practices
  • Support standardization of processes and tools as the platform scales globally

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (architecture, design, and implementation)
  • Solid Linux experience with comfort working in a shell environment (Bash)
  • Proficiency with PowerShell for automation and administration
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (VNETs, hybrid connectivity, VPN, ExpressRoute)
  • Experience working with virtualization or container platforms (KVM, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar)
  • Ability to operate across both hands-on engineering and architectural design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pre-production, lab, or test environments
  • Exposure to large-scale platform engineering or infrastructure validation
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and platform integration
  • Familiarity with modern storage concepts (block, file, object)
  • Experience with Azure Operator Nexus or similar environments is a strong plus
