Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join a client engagement in New Jersey. This is a hybrid role requiring a combination of onsite and remote work. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud automation, and Azure security best practices.
This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing Azure-based cloud environments while driving automation initiatives and ensuring adherence to enterprise security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available Azure cloud environments.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate cloud provisioning and configuration management.
- Implement cloud automation strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Design and enforce Azure security controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, DevOps, and security teams to support cloud-based solutions.
- Monitor cloud environments and proactively identify opportunities for optimization, performance improvement, and cost reduction.
- Implement identity and access management solutions, security monitoring, and compliance controls within Azure.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and security-related issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in architecture discussions and provide recommendations on Azure best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of overall IT infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or related experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
- Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions in Azure environments.
- Strong understanding of Azure security architecture, governance, compliance, and cloud security best practices.
- Experience with cloud networking, virtual networks, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and related Azure services.
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, or similar IaC technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, or related security tools.
- Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments.
- Azure certifications are highly desirable.
