About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Configuration / Release Engineer to design, automate, and maintain cloud configuration and release processes across AWS environments. This role supports highly available, secure, and compliant cloud platforms used for statewide services.
You’ll partner closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to drive automation, reliability, and governance at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Configuration & Infrastructure Automation
- Design and maintain AWS configuration standards and automation
- Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Ensure consistency across Dev, Test, Stage, and Prod environments
Release Engineering & DevOps
- Support CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline
- Manage deployments, releases, rollbacks, and environment readiness
Backup, Patching & Compliance
- Implement automated AWS backup and recovery solutions
- Design and manage automated patching workflows
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance, security, and resiliency
Security & Certificate Management
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates (installation, renewal, rotation)
- Ensure secure communications aligned with state and federal standards
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain IaC, configuration, and governance documentation
- Provide guidance and best practices to technical teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of configuration management experience
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Terraform & IaC
- AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
- Backup automation and patch management
- SSL/TLS certificate management and security best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- AWS and/or Terraform certifications
- Experience in state or local government environments
- Familiarity with Agile tools, vendor management, or OCM
