Overview:
Our client, a global financial institution, is seeking an AVP-level Staff Attorney to join its in-house legal team in New York. This is a high-visibility role within a lean and collaborative legal department, offering the opportunity to work across a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters. The position is ideal for a mid-level attorney with experience handling sophisticated financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of legal agreements, including NDAs and commercial contracts
• Support transactional matters, including loan agreements and structured finance transactions
• Provide legal advice to internal business stakeholders on day-to-day matters
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and mitigate legal risk
• Assist in managing outside counsel and controlling legal spend
• Support regulatory and compliance-related initiatives, including banking regulations where applicable
• Handle multiple work-streams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar
• Approximately 4+ years of legal experience
• Big Law experience required (strong mid-size firm candidates may be considered)
Experience with:
•Banking transactions and/or structured finance
•Loan documentation
•Financial services or banking regulatory matters (preferred)
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a lean team environment
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
