Job Title: Depot Operator (Level 1)

On-Site Shift: Rotational (Includes Mornings, Evenings, Weekends, and Overnights)
Job Summary
The Depot Operator is the backbone of daily fleet operations. This role is responsible for the end-to-end readiness of fully autonomous vehicles, ensuring they are cleaned, charged, and technically prepared for deployment. You will work in a fast-paced, 24/7/365 environment that requires a blend of safe vehicle handling, basic technical troubleshooting, and meticulous documentation.
Responsibilities
Safely maneuver, park, and transit vehicles within the depot and on public roads.
● Operate vans, trucks, or specialized fleet vehicles as required for deployment or service needs.
● Charging & Power: Set up vehicles for charging, manage plug-in/unplug cycles, and monitor power states.
● Sanitization: Perform interior/exterior cleaning, disinfecting, and biohazard removal to meet high cleanliness standards.
● Hardware Setup: Install, gather, and transport computer equipment; assist with simple vehicle adjustments and settings.
● Inventory: Support asset management, including check-in/check-out processes and packaging equipment for repair/shipping.
● Software & Data: Utilize proprietary apps and GSuite to log tasks, monitor vehicle states, and communicate upload errors or high-priority data transfers.
● Troubleshooting: Perform basic technical troubleshooting during shift startup and software updates.
● Reporting: Complete daily reports and checklists (Start-of-Shift/End-of-Shift) to ensure operational transparency and safety compliance.
Requirements
● Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. (4-year degree in applied sciences or a related field is a plus).
● Driving History: Minimum of 3 years of licensed driving experience on public roads.
● Compliance: Must maintain a clean driving record that meets State Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) regulations (typically <1 point, no DUIs, and no at-fault accidents involving injury).
Skills & Competencies
● Tech Savvy: Proficient with touchscreen smartphones (Android/iOS), GSuite (Sheets, Docs, Chat), and comfortable learning new proprietary software.
● Typing: Ability to type at least 40 WPM.
● Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for relaying technical errors to engineering teams.
● Adaptability: Proven ability to remain focused and make sound judgments in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
● Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
● Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions (scrubbing/wiping) for extended periods.
Work Schedule & Travel
● Availability: Must be able to work non-standard shifts (6:00 AM, 2:00 PM, or 10:00 PM starts) including weekends and holidays.
● Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time (potentially up to one month for special assignments).
● Pre-Employment: Must pass a background check, drug screen, and potentially a physical screening for safety-sensitive positions.
