Automation Engineer for a new, state-of-the-art medical device manufacturing plant in Libertyville, IL (direct hire). This is a greenfield opportunity to help launch and optimize high-speed automated production systems ahead of full production later this year.


The role focuses on high-speed assembly automation (100–200+ ppm), including rotary/indexing and cam-driven systems, with hands-on work in PLCs, robotics, controls, and vision systems (Keyence/Cognex). Responsibilities include system integration, commissioning, troubleshooting across mechanical/electrical/controls, and performance optimization of advanced manufacturing equipment.


What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with high-speed automated equipment
  • Support and optimize injection molding machines and integrated automation cells
  • Program and maintain PLC and HMI systems
  • Drive improvements in system performance, uptime, and product quality
  • Partner with production and maintenance teams on root cause analysis
  • Assist with new equipment installation and system integration

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Injection molding experience (required)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in high-speed automation environments
  • Experience working with integrated molding and automation cells
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, and controls systems
