Responsible for assisting the County Deputy Commissioner of Elections and Registration with timely and efficient handling of all supportive election work in Woodbury County Iowa, including preparation of materials for all special, school, municipal, primary and general elections; registration of County voters within proper boundaries and districts; Iowa Campaign Finance filings on local and County level; maintenance of election paperwork and for the efficient, accurate and timely performance of secretarial and receptionist duties. This position is under direct authority of the County Auditor/Recorder Deputy.
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Responsible for accurate and timely registration of all voters according to the Iowa Code and National Motor Voter Law within proper precincts and districts in the County and for the maintenance and update of all voter registration records
Assist supervisor in timely and efficient preparation of all necessary supplies and material for all elections conducted in Woodbury County Iowa
Assist supervisor with compiling and tallying all official post-election voter ballots and preparing canvass prior to certification results
Inventory supplies and assist in preparation of various forms and reports as needed including affidavits and certification results
Use good customer service assisting and instructing the public including the procedure of voting absentee and record all required information by means of the spoken work in clearly spoken English.
Responsible for maintenance and updating of all precinct officials data.
Responsible for the performance of general receptionist duties including answering the phone, giving information and instructing the caller of correct procedures
Perform a variety of clerical duties which may include preparing and distributing the minutes of the Board of Supervisors meetings and maintaining a file system for accompanying documentation
Performs other duties/related tasks/assignments/special projects and maintains accurate records of completed work assignments for the department as assigned by County Auditor/Recorder Deputy
Attendance is required
High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)
Knowledge of the Iowa Code relative to scope of responsibility in election procedures and Campaign Finance reporting
Filing, accurate proofreading skills
Computer skills (including computer using Word and Excel)
Ability to learn County software
Familiarity with election procedures
Knowledge of boundaries of the County and entities within
Ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with others and to safeguard confidential information
