Test Engineer – Vehicle Infotainment (Audio & Video Systems)

As an Audio HIL Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing automated test environments specifically for automotive audio systems. You will bridge the gap between digital signal processing (DSP) and real-time hardware simulation to ensure that cabin acoustics, infotainment audio, and safety-critical alerts meet rigorous performance and quality standards.

### **Key Responsibilities**

#### **1. HIL System Development & Maintenance**

* Design and configure Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches (e.g., dSPACE, NI, or Vector) specifically for audio domains.

* Integrate **A2B (Automotive Audio Bus)** and **I2S** interfaces into the HIL environment to simulate multi-node microphone and speaker networks.

* Develop plant models for audio components and simulate vehicle bus communication (CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet).

#### **2. Test Strategy & Automation**

* Author comprehensive test plans based on functional requirements for Tuner (AM/FM/DAB), Media Playback, Bluetooth Audio, and Voice Recognition.

* Develop automated test scripts using **Python, CAPL, or MATLAB/Simulink**.

* Validate safety-critical acoustic functions, including ADAS chimes, Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS), and eCall audio paths.

#### **3. Acoustic & Signal Validation**

* Perform objective audio measurements such as **THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)**, Frequency Response, SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio), and Latency.

* Validate Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Road Noise Cancellation (RNC) algorithms within the HIL environment.

* Troubleshoot complex audio artifacts (clipping, pops, or synchronization issues) across the digital-to-analog signal chain.

#### **4. Collaboration & Reporting**

* Work closely with DSP Engineers and Software Developers to debug defects found during automated regression runs.

* Manage defect tracking via JIRA and provide detailed validation reports for milestone releases.

### **Required Skills & Qualifications**

* **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Sound Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.

* **Experience:** 3–5 years of hands-on experience in automotive validation, specifically focusing on Audio or Infotainment systems.

* **Technical Proficiencies:**

* **Bus Protocols:** Deep understanding of **A2B**, CAN, Ethernet (AVB/TSN), and LIN.

* **Tools:** Proficiency with **Vector CANoe/CANalyzer**, dSPACE ControlDesk/ConfigurationDesk, or NI LabVIEW.

* **Audio Equipment:** Experience with Audio Precision (APx), HEAD acoustics, or similar acoustic measurement hardware.

* **Programming:** Strong **Python** skills for test automation and data analysis.

* **Domain Knowledge:** Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., ASPICE, ISO 26262) and digital signal processing fundamentals.

### **Preferred Qualifications**

* Experience with Over-the-Air (OTA) audio update validation.

* Knowledge of Android Automotive OS (AAOS) audio HAL.

* Familiarity with simulated cabin acoustics and beamforming microphone array testing.
