A well‑established, multi‑state creditors’ rights and collections litigation law firm is seeking a Kansas‑barred Associate Attorney to join its growing practice. This role offers zero billable hour requirements, hands‑on litigation experience, and meaningful flexibility depending on location.

Work Location & Flexibility

  • Kansas City, MO area: Initially on‑site during training
  • Hybrid schedule available after the first couple of months (work from home several days per week)
  • Wichita, KS area: Fully remote role
  • In‑person presence required approximately once per month


Position Overview

This Associate Attorney role focuses on creditors’ rights and collections litigation, managing cases from suit through post‑judgment. The practice is fast‑paced, litigation‑driven, and metrics‑focused—ideal for attorneys who enjoy courtroom work and responsibility early in their careers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a high‑volume docket of consumer and/or commercial collections matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement documents
  • Appear in court for motions, hearings, trials, and post‑judgment proceedings
  • Handle matters from pre‑suit through judgment enforcement (including garnishments and citations)
  • Communicate with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and internal teams
  • Ensure compliance with FDCPA, applicable state laws, and court rules
  • Accurately document case activity in the firm’s case management system
  • Meet productivity and quality benchmarks consistent with a collections litigation practice


Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Kansas Bar license in good standing (required)
  • 1+ year of litigation experience (collections, creditors’ rights, or high‑volume civil litigation preferred)
  • Strong legal writing, drafting, and courtroom skills
  • Comfortable managing a high caseload
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with legal technology and case management systems
  • Multi‑state licensure is a plus, but not required
