About the Role

A well-established law firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its growing practice.

The ideal candidate will have a background in criminal defense and/or litigation, with an interest in expanding into immigration law. Candidates with strong courtroom experience but no direct immigration background are encouraged to apply — structured training and mentorship will be provided.

What You'll Do

Represent clients in criminal matters, including misdemeanor and felony proceedings
Conduct direct and cross-examinations at trial
Appear in District and Superior Court hearings
Handle immigration matters including removal defense, visas, asylum, and adjustment of status (training provided)
Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents with precision and clarity
Manage client relationships with professionalism, empathy, and responsiveness

Required Qualifications

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the State of North Carolina (or eligibility for admission)
Demonstrated courtroom experience, including trial work, direct examination, and cross-examination
Strong legal research and writing skills
Experience in criminal law (defense or prosecution)

Preferred Qualifications

Prior immigration law experience (removal defense, consular processing, DACA, asylum)
Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish is a plus)
Familiarity with North Carolina state courts and immigration court procedures
