Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor and accomplished trial attorney with deep experience litigating complex civil matters in Maryland state courts. This individual will serve as a senior leader within the firm, managing high‑value cases, mentoring attorneys, and strengthening client relationships.
Required Experience
- Extensive civil litigation experience in Maryland state courts
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex, high‑stakes matters from intake through settlement or trial
- Strong experience with electronic discovery, including strategy development, vendor management, and cost control
Role & Responsibilities
- Serve as lead counsel on complex civil litigation matters, with full responsibility for case strategy, execution, and outcomes
- Oversee all phases of litigation, including investigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial
- Provide strategic, business‑minded legal counsel to clients regarding case posture, litigation risk, and resolution strategies
- Conduct and defend depositions; prepare and argue significant motions; and represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior attorneys and legal staff, fostering a high‑performance and collaborative litigation team
- Play an active role in firm leadership, including practice development, workflow oversight, and process improvement
- Negotiate favorable settlements and oversee post‑resolution matters to ensure efficient and effective case closure
- Stay current on Maryland procedural rules, emerging legal trends, and best practices impacting civil litigation
